What are the strengths?
dvd capability better than a lot of £100+ dvd units for £20 extra.
Processing power is just awesome, and will not fully be exploited by games writers for a while yet. Although Halo2 (out end of the year), claims it will be taking the system near to the limit, so they reckon.
menu system is user friendly.
Graphics in a league of they own.
Made the PS2 instantly obsolete on launch. Heavy and robust, very well made in comparison to the ps2.
Very portable, (yes the bloke who said it is not is talking out of his ...., if he thinks it is too heavy maybe he should get down the gym) I take mine to friends houses in a small sports holder and have dropped it without it breaking a couple of times.
The pads are very well made and offer far more responsive interaction than the PS pads could dream of. There are two excellent triggers, and six different viabrating motors.
What are the weaknesses?
Poor marketing strategy has never managed to generate sales on the same level as the ps2, therefore may not benefit from the volume of games that are available for the ps2. But you have have to ask yourself how many games are you realistically going to own and play? there must be over a 100 available now.
Some reckon the pads are too big - you get used to this within a week or so. If not buy some smaller ones!
The machine is very power ful. The hard drive is very useful. The ability to plug in four controllers out of the box is nice.
What are the weaknesses?
The pads are terrible. They are the worst I have ever used. They are big and heavy so they become quite uncomfortable in extended use. The buttons are hard to reach and the triggers feel very tacky. There is a lack of good third party developers and the XBOX exclusives aren't worth buying the machine for. It's big and heavy so it's not very protbale. This probably doesn't matter much to most people but i take my console to friends houses quite often. You can't play DVD movies out of the box. You have to buy the remote first. Last of all the thing is pig ugly.
Summary
It appears that microsoft rushed to get this out for release date as it doesn't feel finished off properly. It's powerful but it lacks third party developers and the pads are awful.

Best Game Console Ever
Summary
Hi,
I reluctantly decided to get an X-Box to complement my PS2 3 weeks ago. What can I say, my PS2 hasn't had a look in since.
The games are crisper and smoother than the PS and the sound is amazing on my 5 channel TV. For £150 you cannot go wrong anybody who is saying the PS2 is better is either stupid or blind (or even both).
Microsoft has ensured that great games are in the marketplace and that there are some amazing games coming down the road.

Summary
I would just like to say to all the people that doubt X-Box that it's an amazing console, anyone who had played Halo multiplayer with 4 TVs, 4 Consoles and 16 pads will know what I'm on about or even anyone who's played with 2 consoles, 2 TV's and 2 pads will realise the cababilty of this beast, and people who say that it is too big are very strange, if you've got a 10 inch TV hanging down from your ceiling over your bed that is in a closet then yes you may have a problem. I just stick mine in the cabinet of my TV. Ok the pads might not be amazing but they're better that game cube and you can get adapters for playstation controllers and with Halo 2, Timesplitters 2, Splinter Cell, MGS Substance, Unreal Championship and X Box Live coming in the near future i think it is going to turn out to be a good buy. i must admit I felt as if I had been kicked in the teeth when 6 weeks after I bought the thing for £300 only to find it got reduced to £200. The sound is also amazing and people who have albums of CD's and only a few songs on each that they like they can rip them onto the XBox's hard drive and play them back during games

What a let down, another ripoff by Microsoft!!!!
Summary
Well i thought excellent, both a PS2 and an Xbox. Any persons dream, NOT. After playing the xbox i didn't reckon it was as good as the PS2, after playing many more games i still think this. I thought i would watch a DVD and then realised i needed to fork out an extra £30 just to do this. The size of the machine is bigger than my actual PC, and is just clumsy, you cant even stand it on its side to save room. Sorry Microsoft after my friend tried to get help on a problem with his and got told "It must be something your doing wrong" well that just about took the biscuit. Sorry Microsoft, it has to be said once again all your trying to do is rip the public off once again, no wonder the Japanese wont touch it, think i'll have to get rid off mine, what a let down. Perhaps i'll trade it in for a Game Cube. At least with Nintendo they try to please the public, and as for Sony, keep up the good work and remember, its us the public that you have to please.
